Delete your Hallmates account
You can delete your account at any time. You can do it yourself in the app, or ask us to do it for you.
In the app
Open Settings
Tap Settings at the top of the Home screen.
Tap "Delete my account"
It is at the bottom of the Settings page, under Sign out.
Confirm
Read what will happen, then tap Delete my account again. You are signed out straight away.
Without the app
Email admin@gethallmates.com from the email address you use to sign in, with the subject "Delete my account" and the name of your community. We confirm by email and delete the account within 7 days. We may ask you to confirm a sign-in code first, so that no one else can delete your account.
"Within 7 days" for email requests is my proposal: deleting from the app is instant, but an email request is handled by a person. Confirm the time you can keep.
What is deleted, and what stays
Deleting in the app happens straight away.
| Information | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your name, email, phone, photo, "about me", unit and settings | Deleted |
| Your private conversations, for both people in them, and the photos sent in them | Deleted |
| Your market listings, RSVPs, reminders and the get-togethers you host | Deleted |
| Your posts, replies and issue reports, with their photos | Stay so conversations still make sense, shown as "Former neighbor" without your name or unit |
| Your past votes and petition signatures | Stay in the totals, without your name |
| Server request logs | Deleted after 5 to 10 days in any case |
To delete individual posts or messages without deleting your account, open them in the app and choose Delete.
To come back later, you would need a new invitation from your community admin.
There are no database backups yet. Once there are, deleted information stays in them until they expire; say how long here.
Google Play asks for this page's address in the Data safety form. It must name the app and the developer, which it does in the header and footer.
