Join your building

Hallmates is invite-only. Each building has a community admin who sends invitations to the owners, and sometimes the residents, of each unit.

  1. Get your invitation

Your community admin sends you a 6-digit invitation code by email, or hands you a printed letter. The code is for your unit and works for 14 days.

  2. Install Hallmates

Download the free app on your iPhone or Android phone.

Store links go here once the app is approved. Until then the buttons say "Coming soon". The official App Store and Google Play badges have usage rules; use them as provided by Apple and Google.

  3. Enter your code

Open the app, tap "I have an invitation", and enter it. You will see your building's name and your unit, so you know it is the right one.

  4. Add your name and email

Your mobile number is optional. There is no password: each time you sign in, we email you a short code.

  5. Wait for your admin to confirm you

Your admin checks that you own or live in the unit, usually against the owner list or the county property record. Then your building's Home screen opens.

No invitation?

If your building already uses Hallmates, ask your community admin or a board member for an invitation. If it does not, you can ask us to start a community for your association.

Renting your home?

Each community decides whether residents who rent can join. Where it is allowed, the admin, or the owner of your unit, can invite you.
